AdSense changes the referrals from 90 days to 180

Posted in Adsense, Google related by Administrator on the March 3rd, 2006

Following the many rumors of AdSense changing the time frame of AdSense referrals eligibility from 90 days to 180 days, the new interface change on Google AdSense has also included the date change many publishers were hoping to see. AdSense silently changed it from an unlimited signup referral period to a 90 day time limit at the end of January.

AdSense has now officially changed it from the silent 90 days they added recently to 180 days.

You may have noticed today that the time limit for AdSense referrals is now 180 days. Based on the feedback we heard, we agreed that 90 days may not provide enough time for your referred publishers to complete earning $100. Therefore, we decided to double the window. This change is retroactive, so it will also apply to AdSense signups that occurred more than 90 days but less than 180 days ago.
The change is now noted in the control panel for referrals.

Speedy Targeted Website Traffic With Huge Results

Posted in Advertising, Directories, Google related by Administrator on the February 10th, 2006

It is estimated that around 60% of new traffic to your Web site will come from search engines. This means that unless you are already popular and people know your name where they can search for your site, you will need a good search engine strategy. Thousands of new Web sites are created daily, so the saying Build it, and they will come does not apply. If people don’t know about you, there won’t be any traffic.

Effective Web site promotion requires a serious and continuing investment of time and resources, whether you do it yourself, or hire a professional. It is not a one time deal, but an ongoing process, meaning you should consider the return on your investment with the things you do.

Malicious software targets Google AdSense ads

Posted in Adsense, Google related by Administrator on the December 29th, 2005

From: http://jensense.com/
It was only a matter of time before a trojan or virus targeted AdSense or YPM for malicious activity, and the time has come. A new trojan horse discovered by an Indian publisher replaces Google AdSense ads with their own ads, advertising sites including dating, sex, viagra and weight loss. This trojan is very recent, because it not only converts regular AdSense ad units, but also the Google AdSense and Firefox referrer buttons into text links.

Website Content is King

Search engine optimization used to be fairly simple. The algorithms the engines used were clearly based on strategically placed keywords, and the strategy in the early days was to “beat the engines”. How? By loading each page with hundreds of keywords, made invisible by making the words the same color as the page background.

The search engines have become a lot smarter since the old days, and figuring out their complex formulas has become a loser’s game. Yet the goals of both sides need not be mutually exclusive.

The search engine optimizers just want to rank their pages higher.

Truth About Web Crawlers

Posted in Search Engines, Google related by Administrator on the December 3rd, 2005

Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to leave some code in your web site to tell the search engine spider crawlers to make your site number one? Unfortunately a robots.txt file or robots meta tag won’t do that, but they can help the crawlers to index your site better and block out the unwanted ones.

“Advertise on this site” finally goes live on AdSense ad units

Posted in Adsense, Google related by Administrator on the November 23rd, 2005

From JenSense excelent blog!

While the new “Advertise on this site” feature was officially launched on Friday, the feature wasn’t actually seen live until late yesterday. So if you were opted in but didn’t see it, you should be seeing it now.

AdSense has a demo here. On the second screenshot of the demo, two company names are listed - epicurean.com information in the header, but the body of the text says PetPlace.com. Perhaps PetPlace was one of the original testers of this feature before it was removed as a case study.

Mozilla Firefox 1.5 RC2 is out

Posted in Google related by Administrator on the November 11th, 2005

Just days after the Mozilla Foundation released the first Release Candidate of their primetime web browser solution Mozilla Firefox 1.5, we now have the second one. Mozilla Firefox 1.5 Release Candidate 2 is now officially out and the open source foundation is recommending it as a must update for the users of the first release candidate.

The final version of Mozilla Firefox 1.5 is expected to be released by the end of the year, and they just want the release candidate versions to be thoroughly tested. The RC2 is available for beta testers and developers for compatibility testing and to solicit feedback. As always, no official support is being provided for this update and they mention it clearly on the Mozilla Firefox website.

Be Popular on the Web

If search engines determine that your website is popular, then they will list it as relevant to a search, the more popular - the more relevant. The more relevant, the higher you will be listed in search results. But how easy is to be popular?

Design to become popular:
The search engines calculate that if other websites containing subject matter in common with your website, have actually linked to your website, then yours is a popular site for that subject. The more links from websites with the same key words as you, the more popular your site is deemed. Plan to get those prized links.
